Alastair Cook is the main man this Ashes series.

Alastair Cook has been named the highest English runscorer in a single Ashes series for 40 years.

It was the fifth time when Cook has passed 50 this winter. At the finish of the second day of the fifth and final Test at the SCG, England closed on 167 for three, 113 runs behind Australia’s first-innings total.Cook was not out on 61.

It has been an outstanding series for the Essex left-hander. He has not looked back since he struck a barely-believable 235 not out during the first Test in Brisbane.

Four years ago his technique was picked apart by Glenn McGrath and Shane Warne but this time his average is a stunning 127.60.
