England batsmen Alastair Cook has been awarded the the Freedom of the City of London for his spectacular performance in England's historic Ashes triumph in Australia.
The England hero made 766 runs in five Tests against the arch-rivals in the recent Ashes test series.The figures was revealed out when he was named man of the series because of this achievement.
The awards are presented to those people who had an outstanding contribution to London life.
'I am greatly honoured and privileged to be given the Freedom of London for doing something I love ...beating the Aussies,' Cook was quoted as saying by The Guardian.
England captain Andrew Strauss has been bestowed with the honour earlier.
